Welcome to my home views! In Indianola, WA we have a dock that hosts a prime viewpoint of Mt. Rainier, the Cascades to the east of the Puget Sound and the towering Olympics to the west of Port Madison Reserve.

Every hillside, every valley, every plain and grove, has been hallowed by some sad or happy event in days long vanished.” Chief Seattle 1854 We would like to begin by acknowledging that the land on which we gather is within the ancestral territory of the suq ̀ʷabš “People of Clear Salt Water” (Suquamish People). Expert fisherman, canoe builders and basket weavers, the suq ̀ʷabš live in harmony with the lands and waterways along Washington’s Central Salish Sea as they have for thousands of years. Here, the suq ̀ʷabš live and protect the land and waters of their ancestors for future generations as promised by the Point Elliot Treaty of 1855.

Each of these pieces were done en plein air. In summer most likely after a salty swim, a fizzy ‘booch and bag of salt and vinegars within reach. Or if in winter, cozied up and gripping a thermos of tea, painting with fingerless gloves, and huddled from the wind and imminent Seattle drizzle.
